Coherent LiFi System With Spatial Multiplexing

Coherent light fidelity (LiFi) systems which uses coherent detection at the receiver are attracting more and interest as they provide many advantages over conventional intensity modulation / direct (IM/DD) LiFi systems. Recent efforts to boost performance of IM/DD include usage multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technology, among spatial multiplexing (SMX) has gained certain attention. This paper combines multiplexing, proposes a novel scheme called CD SMX (coherent-detection spatial-multiplexing) improve performances. Compared with single-input-single-output (SISO) (SM) systems, proposed provides spectral efficiency gain. Unlike or radio frequency (RF) system is free from inter-channel interferences (ICI) due matching properties detection. The studied via both theoretical analysis computer simulations. It reported that achieves large gain its counterpart, moderate SM.
